ISLAMABAD: Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has delivered an exceptional performance during the Financial Year 2025-26, registering remarkable achievements across its operational, commercial and technical indicators.

Through effective planning, strict monitoring, sustained field efforts and prudent management, GEPCO has not only achieved single-digit line losses but has also recorded excellent recovery performance, significant additional revenue generation, continued system upgradation and notable progress in the anti-power theft drive.

Sharing details of the company’s performance, Chief Executive Officer GEPCO, Engineer Muhammad Ayub, stated that GEPCO successfully reduced its line losses to 9.80 percent i.e. Single Digit (in comparison with the last Year i.e. 10.43 percent,) thereby bringing the company’s losses into single digits, which is a significant milestone and a reflection of GEPCO’s operational efficiency and improved system management.

He said that the achievement was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Operations, Construction, GSO, GSC and Commercial formations, along with strict monitoring, better load management, system rehabilitation, replacement of weak and overloaded equipment and an effective strategy against electricity theft and losses.

The Chief Executive stated that GEPCO’s achievement of reducing line losses to single digits is not only a major institutional success but also a strong indicator of the company’s improving performance among the country’s power distribution companies. He added that this accomplishment reflects the professional leadership of the Chairman GEPCO Board of Directors Engr. Mujahid Pervez Chattha, the support and guidance of the Board of Directors, the commitment of the management and the tireless efforts of GEPCO officers and staff at all levels.

Engineer Muhammad Ayub further informed that recovery of electricity dues remained one of GEPCO’s highest priorities throughout the financial year.

Owing to vigorous recovery efforts, close field supervision and coordinated action by all formations, GEPCO achieved an impressive 100.50 percent recovery rate, setting yet another benchmark in financial discipline and operational excellence.

He congratulated all Chief Engineers, Circle Heads, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, SDOs, recovery teams and field staff for their dedicated efforts in achieving this outstanding result.

Highlighting the company’s commercial performance, the Chief Executive said that accurate and timely billing, strict action against defaulters and electricity theft, expansion and upgradation of the distribution network, commissioning of new grid stations, rehabilitation of overloaded feeders and transformers, preventive maintenance and continuous system improvement measures collectively enabled GEPCO to generate additional revenue amounting to Rs5.2 billion during FY 2025-26.

He stated that this substantial amount has been deposited into the national exchequer, thereby making a meaningful contribution towards the economic stability of the country.

Engineer Muhammad Ayub emphasised that GEPCO’s progress during the outgoing financial year was achieved through a combination of commercial discipline, system strengthening, consumer-focused service delivery and field-level enforcement.

He noted that the company continued to improve its distribution infrastructure, enhance operational response, reduce technical and commercial losses and ensure better monitoring of field performance.

He added that GEPCO remained focused on modernisation of its systems and implementation of practical reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and public service delivery.

Paying tribute to GEPCO’s operational formations, the Chief Executive particularly acknowledged the role of the company’s line staff, technical teams, recovery formations and field officers, describing them as the true backbone of the organisation.

He said that despite extremely demanding working conditions—including severe heat, storms, rain, emergency breakdowns and challenging field circumstances—GEPCO’s workforce continued to perform its duties with commitment, courage and professionalism to ensure uninterrupted and reliable power supply to millions of consumers across the region.

The Chief Executive further stated that the company’s achievements during FY 2025-26 clearly demonstrate GEPCO’s institutional capacity, discipline and resolve to perform beyond assigned targets.

He reaffirmed that GEPCO would continue its efforts to further reduce losses, improve recoveries, strengthen the power distribution network, enhance customer facilitation, promote digital and technical modernisation and ensure efficient utilisation of public resources.

Engineer Muhammad Ayub expressed confidence that, with the continued support of the Board of Directors, the dedication of GEPCO officers and staff and the cooperation of consumers, GEPCO will continue to build upon its achievements and further strengthen its position as one of the leading electricity distribution companies of the country.

He also extended heartfelt congratulations to the entire GEPCO team for their exemplary performance and appreciated their valuable contribution towards the company’s success during FY 2025-26.

He said that the spirit of teamwork, accountability and public service demonstrated by GEPCO employees would continue to drive the organisation towards greater excellence in the years ahead.
