KARACHI: Sindh Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani has said that the Sindh government is taking revolutionary steps to modernise the fish harbour, increase seafood exports, ensure the welfare of fishermen, and promote the marine economy (Blue Economy).
Talking to newsmen, he stated in that bringing improvements to the Karachi Fish Harbour system will not only boost the fishing sector but will also steer the provincial economy toward stability.
He conducted a detailed visit to the Karachi Fish Harbour and inspected its various sections and comprehensively reviewed the ongoing administrative arrangements, facilities provided to fishermen, cleanliness situation, security protocols, and various development initiatives.
On this occasion, the provincial minister issued strict directives to the relevant authorities, emphasising that the cleanliness system, basic amenities, security, and overall administrative affairs at the fish harbour must be further improved and streamlined.
He added that this is crucial to provide a completely secure, well-equipped, and conducive environment for fishermen and other individuals associated with the fisheries sector.
During this important visit, Managing Director (MD) of Karachi Fish Harbour Zahid Khemtio, Director General of Marine Fisheries Asim Karim, Deputy Secretary of Livestock Muhammad Imran, Dr Shaneed, and other high-ranking officials from the relevant departments were also present.
They provided a detailed briefing to the provincial minister regarding the harbour’s operations.
