KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi on Tuesday invited Chinese investors to take advantage of the immense investment opportunities available in Sindh, saying the province remains Pakistan’s most important and attractive hub for trade, investment and industrial activities.
He was talking to a delegation of China’s IBI International Group here at the Governor House. The delegation was led by the group’s Co-Founder Liu Zhai and included Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, Mian Zahid Hussain from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on investment prospects in Sindh, industrial development, modernization of ports, digitalization, infrastructure development, energy cooperation and the promotion of advanced technologies.
The Governor said the provincial government is taking practical steps to provide maximum facilities and a business-friendly environment to local and foreign investors.
He emphasised that the private sector plays a vital role in strengthening the economy, generating employment opportunities and promoting innovation and modern technology.
He further stated that Pakistan and China enjoy historic and brotherly relations rooted in mutual trust, cooperation and shared economic progress, adding that such high-level exchanges would further strengthen bilateral trade, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
The Governor also highlighted the strategic importance of Sindh’s coastline and ports, noting that effective utilization of maritime resources could significantly contribute to foreign exchange earnings and economic growth.
Liu Zhai said Pakistan possesses enormous potential in coastal development, maritime trade and port-related industries. She observed that the modernization and digitalization of ports through advanced technologies could improve efficiency and open new avenues of economic growth.
The delegation offered cooperation in the digitalization of ports and expressed willingness to provide modern technological solutions and services to support Pakistan’s economic transformation.
Liu Zhai also expressed interest in expanding annual exchange programs for engineering and technology experts between Pakistan and China to promote knowledge-sharing and technical collaboration.
The Chinese delegation further assured full cooperation in supporting Pakistan’s digital economy and technological advancement, emphasizing that public-private partnerships can create new opportunities for sustainable economic growth and innovation.
The delegation praised the leadership of Governor Sindh and appreciated the provincial government’s efforts to improve the business and investment climate in Sindh.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Liu Zhai invited the Governor to visit Beijing to further strengthen economic and technological cooperation between the two sides.
Responding to the gesture, Hashmi thanked the delegation and remarked that the Governor House should be considered their “second home.”
