PESHAWAR: The Excise and Taxation Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has collected an amount of Rs.5.136 billion during the three quarters of the current fiscal year showing a growth of 19 percent as compared to the same period of last fiscal year.
During last financial year, the department had had made tax recovery of Rs 4,314.6 million. Collection during the nine months of the current fiscal year is Rs 822.2 million higher than last year.
This was told during a monthly review meeting on tax recovery performance of the Excise Department held here with KP Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan in the chair.
During the meeting, a comparative review of tax collection figures up to March 2026, covering the first nine months of the current fiscal year, was conducted against the annual targets set for the department.
The minister was briefed that the department had achieved significant progress in tax collection during July to March of the fiscal year 2025–26.
Syed Fakhar Jehan directed officers and staff of the Excise Department to ensure, at all costs, the achievement of tax revenue targets set for the current financial year, stressing that there would be no room for leniency in meeting the assigned goals.
He reiterated that achieving targets by June was mandatory under all circumstances and appreciated the efforts of officers who demonstrated outstanding performance.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Khalid Ilyas, Director General Excise Abdul Halim Khan, Additional Director General, Directors, officers from various Excise offices in Peshawar, and officers from other districts via zoom.
