China’s Wasion Holdings Limited has secured smart metering contracts in Pakistan worth over RMB115 million, approximately USD16.85 million, as the South Asian country accelerates efforts to modernise its power distribution system.

“The board of directors of Wasion Holdings Limited is pleased to announce that in April 2026, Wasion Group Limited, a subsidiary of the company, successfully won the bids for smart metering products and supporting services project in Pakistan, with contract value exceeding RMB115 million (approximately HK$131.74 million),” the company said in a statement.

“These successful bids fully demonstrate Wasion’s technical strength in integrated energy solutions and its capability to perform international projects. Leveraging years of deep-rooted overseas experience, mature product portfolio, and a continuously advancing localised service network, Wasion’s comprehensive competitiveness and brand influence in the South Asian market have been steadily growing.

“Looking ahead, Wasion will continue to deepen local cooperation, remain committed to technology- driven development, and consistently enhance its global project delivery capabilities, contributing to the high-quality development of power grids and the global energy transition,” it added.

Last week, Pakistan’s Power Division inked a Transaction Advisory Services Agreement (TASA) with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to roll out 10 million smart meters in power Distribution Companies (DISCOs).

Under this agreement, the IFC will act as transaction advisor and conduct a comprehensive techno-commercial assessment for a service-provider model or public-private partnership framework to support the large-scale rollout of smart metering infrastructure for 10 million single-phase connections.

Meanwhile, according to information available on the company’s website, Wasion Holdings Limited is the leading total solution provider of advanced metering, advanced distribution and energy efficiency management in China.

The advanced smart metering business of the company mainly comprises comprehensive smart meters, smart water meters, smart gas meters and ultrasonic calorimeters; various meters and power quality monitoring devices; comprehensive energy data collection terminals, load management terminals and user management devices; measurement automation systems and various application systems, services and energy data mining.
