LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that creative thinking must be recognised as essential for human development, problem-solving and building a better future, adding that the innovative aspirations of youth are pivotal to societal progress.

In her message on World Creativity and Innovation Day, she said the day serves as a reminder to broaden perspectives and embrace new ideas. She emphasised that listening to others and promoting teamwork plays a vital role in fostering innovation.

The chief minister said the use of technology and innovation in development projects and education has become indispensable. “Transforming the world does not require vast resources, but great ideas,” she remarked, noting that Pakistani youth are making significant strides in e-commerce and Artificial Intelligence. She added that creativity is not merely an innate trait but a habit developed through consistent effort and opportunity.

Highlighting the government’s initiatives, CM Punjab said the Punjab government is promoting information technology, Artificial Intelligence and modern technologies across the province. She announced that the province’s first Nawaz Sharif IT City will be established in Lahore.

She further said that, in collaboration with Google, the government has launched free certification courses for more than 100,000 students, while practical measures are being taken to enhance IT training.

The chief minister added that smart IT solutions are being introduced in the health sector and other government departments. She said the introduction of electro buses has set Punjab’s transport system on the path of innovation, while a fast train service between Lahore and Rawalpindi, along with new trains on local routes, is aimed at modernising travel culture.
