He said that around 90,937 verified invoices were entered into the third ballot, a drastic increase compared to just 3,260 invoices in the inaugural draw and 8,734 in the second, following aggressive print and social media awareness campaigns.
He expressed confidence that the prize scheme would create a culture of invoice demand among consumers, encouraging service recipients to actively seek POS-integrated receipts and verify them rather than accepting undocumented or unregistered transactions.
“This will not only help in verification of the tax amounts paid by customers in a transparent manner, but will also result in augmentation of tax receipts”.
The authority has announced 76 lucky winners, who had verified their Point-of-Sale (POS) invoices through the SRB’s digital system. The prizes including a 1300cc car, motorcycles, televisions, refrigerators, tablets, mobile phones, smart watches, and cash prizes.
The scheme is built on SRB’s integration of POS invoicing systems used by retail service providers including restaurants and other consumer-facing businesses with the SRB’s centralized computerised platform. This integration allows for real-time reporting of transactions and enables customers to independently verify the authenticity of their invoices.
