Sindh begins Rs2,000 fuel subsidy for motorcyclists: Here’s how to apply

The Sindh government has started disbursing a Rs2,000 monthly fuel subsidy for motorcycle owners through the Excise and Taxation Department’s online portal, with a mobile application expected to be launched in the coming days.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah outlined the procedure for claiming the subsidy, aimed at easing the burden of rising petroleum prices.

Who is eligible?

The subsidy is available to registered motorcycle owners in Sindh. Applicants must ensure that the vehicle is registered in their name.

How to apply

To claim the subsidy, users need to:

  • Visit the Excise Department’s website and verify vehicle ownership through the Online Vehicle Verification section by selecting two-wheelers and entering the registration number.
  • If the motorcycle is registered in their name, proceed to the tax portal and select the Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program.
  • Enter CNIC and motorcycle registration number to check eligibility.
  • Provide name and mobile number to receive a one-time password (OTP).
  • Enter the OTP and submit International Bank Account Number (IBAN), to complete the application. Make sure the bank account title matches your registered name to avoid verification delays.

Upon submission, applicants receive a confirmation message stating that their claim has been forwarded to Sindh Bank for verification, along with a tracking number.

“Your fuel subsidy claim has been received and sent to Sindh Bank for account verification. Once verification is complete, your subsidy amount will be deposited into the account provided. You can check the status of your application using the following tracking number: **********.”

When will payments be made?

Officials say the subsidy amount will be transferred to verified bank accounts within 15 days of application. The provincial government earlier indicated that initial disbursements would take place between April 15 and 20.

Programme scope

According to the chief minister, the initiative covers approximately 6.7 million registered motorcycles across the province. He clarified that the relief will be provided as a direct cash transfer, not as a discount on fuel prices at petrol pumps.

The subsidy programme mirrors broader relief efforts aimed at mitigating the impact of rising fuel costs on the public.
