ISLAMABAD: Up to 91 percent of the target set by the federal government under the Ramazan Relief Package has been successfully achieved, Secretary Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Amer Ali Ahmad has said.

In this context, the secretary BISP held a meeting with Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Imran Shah, an official statement said on Wednesday.

The secretary gave the minister a detailed briefing on the completion of the Ramazan Relief Package, the statement added.

The briefing suggested that 91 percent of the government’s target

under the Ramazan Relief Package was successfully achieved.

The minister appreciated the efforts of BISP, and expressed satisfaction over the results achieved, said the statement.

“The successful completion of the Ramazan Relief Package reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare,” Shah said, according to the statement.

On 14th February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a 38 billion rupees Ramazan Relief Package for distribution among deserving people across the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Addressing an official ceremony then, Sharif said that Rs 38 billion would be disbursed through digital bank accounts among 12.1 million deserving families.

Every deserving family would receive Rs 13,000 through digital wallet or bank transfer, the PM said on 14 February at the launching ceremony of the Ramazan Relief Package for the Islamic month that began on 19 February and ended on 20 March in Pakistan.
