FAISALABAD: FCCI and FWCCI along with organisations engaged in women empowerment must develop much-needed cohesion and liaison to catalyse production of women entrepreneurs, said Engr Asim Munir, Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).

He was talking to Christina Peter, Senior Vice President FWCCI and Head of AWARD Organisation to expedite women empowerment and undertake maximum social welfare projects.

Engr Asim Munir appreciated the services of women in social, educational and welfare sectors and said that immediately after Eid, he will visit the office of her organisation AWARD along with President FCCI Farooq Yousaf Sheikh, and SVP Naveed Akram Sheikh. He requested Christina to continue the existing courses of beauticians, stitching and IT particularly for females to empower them. He also assured that projects in Chak Jhumra, Ram Diwali and Samundari would be continued even after the expiry of their project date.

He suggested that AWARD should collaborate with JICA, GIZ and other international donor organizations to further expand these projects.

Engr Asim Munir said that a joint meeting would be held in FCCI to decide future projects for women empowerment. Christina Peter said that her organisation has been working at the grassroots level for the last 32 years.

“We are providing skills in addition to arranging finances for them to start their own businesses,” she said and added that AWARD has also played a key role in mitigating the sufferings of the poorest of the poor. She also handed over a presentation of AWARD to Engr Asim Munir.
