ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday urged the global community to combat prejudice and discrimination against Muslims, describing it as a threat to religious freedom and social harmony.
In a message marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, being observed today (Sunday), he highlighted the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution against Islamophobia as a key step in discouraging hatred towards Muslims worldwide.
“Social intolerance undermines fundamental religious freedoms and the values of mutual respect and tolerance,” he said, emphasising that civilised societies do not differentiate human rights based on belief.

PM Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of all forms of Islamophobia. “Linking Islam with extremist ideologies reflects ignorance. Islam promotes peace and reconciliation for all humankind,” he said, adding that Pakistan will continue advocating for religious tolerance and the safety of Muslims on global platforms.
He described the day as a moment for the international community to reaffirm protections against religious bias and violent acts, underscoring the country’s commitment to promoting mutual respect and harmony worldwide.
