10 terrorists killed in sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Zhob: ISPR
- ISPR says weapons and ammunition were recovered from killed terrorists
Security forces killed 10 terrorists during a sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Zhob district, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out on February 25 following an earlier intelligence-based operation (IBO) on February 24 in which eight terrorists were neutralised in the same district.
The ISPR said security forces launched a comprehensive area clearance operation to track down suspected terrorists linked to a banned outfit described as “Fitna al Khwarij.”
“During the conduct of operation, own forces tracked down Khwarij on multiple routes and effectively engaged their locations,” the statement said, adding that 10 terrorists were killed after an exchange of fire.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the deceased terrorists, who, according to the military, were involved in various terrorist activities in the area.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations are continuing to eliminate any other terrorists present in the region.
It added that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue to root out what it termed foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
