“Will the real Foreign Minister step forward?”
“That’s a reference to the US television show To Tell the Truth, isn’t it? There are four celebrity panellists and three contestants all claiming to be the subject of a story read aloud by the host, the panel asks questions from the contestants in an attempt to determine which is the real subject.”
“Right and at the end the host asks the real subject to step forward. But my question stands: who is the real foreign minister?”
“Araghchi of Iran, Rubio of the US…”
“Pakistan.”
“Are you trying to get me in trouble?”
“No, I just want to know…”
“The multi-hatted Ishaq Dar has the designation though it is second to the portfolio of Deputy Prime Minister, so one doesn’t really know if he is going on foreign visits as the foreign minister or as the deputy and…”
“One question: if the top man is part of the delegation, the top man being the Prime Minister, then does he need to take his deputy with him?”
“That maybe killing two birds with one stroke – two of our birds.”
“For your information the actual proverb is killing two birds with one stone, not stroke.”
“I reject that, we are a modern nation, our army is one of the best in the world, and we equip it with the latest military hardware and…”
“OK, OK, so killing two birds with one what? AK-47? A grenade, or what?”
“We can go all the way up to a nuclear bomb.”
“Hey back off will you, anyway what I have noted is that the real diplomacy is being undertaken by how shall I put it? Individuals who do not belong to the Foreign Ministry…”
“So what?”
“They’re training at the taxpayers’ expense and their salaries at our expense are simply going to waste and…”
“In a multipolar world that we are in today, globally the stone has been replaced by a host of military hardware that is used based on the adversary’s hardware.”
“I will have to agree.”
