  • SBP says banks are required to ensure uninterrupted access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms
Published Updated

To facilitate taxpayers, all commercial banks in Pakistan have been instructed to extend their working hours until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, for over-the-counter payment of government duties and taxes.

This was announced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a statement on Tuesday.

The SBP said banks have also been advised to keep relevant branches open beyond normal hours if needed to support the special clearing of government transactions through the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).

In addition, banks are required to ensure uninterrupted access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to enable taxpayers to complete government payments digitally.
