KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has assured the Christian community in the province of full security for their holy event of Christmas, which falls on December 25.

In response to a formal letter by Spokesperson of Sindh Government and Member Sindh Human Rights Commission, Sukhdev Hemnani, the Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has directed all concerned authorities to ensure foolproof security along with efficient traffic arrangements at and around all churches, places of worship and communal sites of the Christian community across Sindh during the Christmas celebrations.

Accordingly, all DIGs and SSPs have been instructed to implement comprehensive security and traffic management plans.

The letter to IG Sindh emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and coordinated security planning, while highlighting constitutional guarantees under Article 9 (right to life and liberty), Article 20 (freedom of religion), Article 25 (equality before law) and Article 36 (protection of minorities).

Hemani stressed that the protection of religious minorities and their places of worship is a constitutional responsibility and a core priority of the Sindh Government.

He said that under the inclusive leadership of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh Government continues to take proactive and institutional measures to safeguard minority rights and promote interfaith harmony.

He affirmed that the Sindh Government will remain fully vigilant throughout the Christmas period and that all concerned departments have been directed to ensure a safe, peaceful and secure environment across the province.
