KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, called on by a high-level delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at his office in Karachi.

The meeting discussed in detail the financial support for transport-related projects and key future initiatives. Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and CEO Trans Karachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro also attended the meeting. The ADB delegation also assured its support for ongoing transport projects as well as future transport and mobility initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government is set to operate biogas-powered buses for the first time in Pakistan, and the process of procuring these buses for Karachi is being formally initiated.

He said that the Sindh government’s priority is to ensure that the biogas-powered buses are not only modern but also provide services of an international standard. The buses running on biogas will be environmentally friendly, and each bus will be equipped with ITS.

Sharjeel Inam Memon added that work on the biogas plant project to support environmentally friendly buses in Karachi will begin soon. He stated that initiatives such as the biogas plant will play an important role in promoting eco-friendly transport, and that biogas and electric vehicles will help reduce environmental pollution.
