ISLAMABAD: Turkiye Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar is likely to visit Pakistan from November 27-28, 2025 to discuss avenues of cooperation in energy sector between the two countries.

According to the Embassy of Turkiye, the minister will hold meetings with Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari and other top officials during his visit.

Pakistan and Turkey cooperate in the energy sector through joint ventures in oil and gas exploration, capacity building in human resources and technical areas, and enhancing investment in Pakistan’s power and distribution sectors.

ECC clears TPOC-led consortium to operate offshore block

Recent initiatives include a joint bidding agreement for offshore exploration and partnerships to enhance efficiency and training in the electricity sector. Both nations are also committed to deepening their cooperation in renewable energy and improving their strategic energy ties.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced a major milestone in the farm-out process of the Eastern Offshore Indus Block-C, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration with Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company (TPOC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortakl (TPAO), the national oil company of Turkiye.

This partnership is the result of high-level engagements between the governments of Pakistan and Turkiye, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan’s offshore exploration activities.

As part of this strategic initiative, and in the spirit of strengthening the brotherly ties between the two nations, PPL has transferred the operatorship of the block to TPOC, subject to regulatory approvals.
