ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman’s (FTO) critical recommendation to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) remained unimplemented to take action against ‘private gangs’ allegedly involved in selling non-custom paid (NCP) products, in connivance of some Customs/ Inland Revenue tax employees.

Earlier FTO has issued very important order in C. No 1763 (Waheed Shahzad Butt vs. Secretary Revenue Division) wherein FTO has directed the FBR to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officers responsible for failure to submit comments in a case involving gangs selling non-custom paid products in connivance with FBR employees, causing huge loss of revenue. Directorate of I&I-Customs and I&I-IR had to conduct a detailed investigation on the issues involved in the Complaint.
