Consumer Court decides 248 cases of compensations

RAWALPINDI: The Consumer Court has decided 248 cases to compensate consumers who filed their complaints against shopkeepers, manufacturers, govt departments and others during 2017.

According to details, as many as 440 citizens got registered their complaints against poor quality products and services of the manufacturers and government departments in the district Consumer Court during last year. 248 complainants were provided relief while 156 cases are being heard by the court.

An official of the Court said that the consumer court listens to appeals regarding faulty manufacturing, defective services and other problems faced by the consumers including of WAPDA, Sui Gas and other public service institutions.

The citizens also got registered their complaints against poor services of banks, hospitals, doctors, medical labs while during winter a number of applications are also submitted against SNGPL for low gas pressure problem.

To a question he informed that 17 consumer courts are working in the province while six new courts were set up in six other districts of the province during last year.

The Consumer Courts are providing relief to the citizens, he said and urged the media to play a role to create awareness about the consumers’ rights.

To a question he said, the Consumer Court gives decision in accordance with the law against medical labs not issue perfect medical reports and cause problems for the patients.
