The Supreme Court (SC) decided on Thursday to indict Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry during the next hearing of the contempt of court case against him.

The three member bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan hearing the contempt case, has decided to frame charges against Chaudhry on March 14, local media reported. The court has also summoned Chaudhry to appear at the next hearing, when his lawyer will give his reply regarding the CD in which Chaudhry's speech was recorded.

SC adjourns Talal Chaudhry’s contempt hearing

During the last hearing on March 6,  Chaudhy’s lawyer Kamran Murtaza requested the court to provide a copy of the CD in which Chaudhry had made contemptuous remarks against the judiciary. The SC had allowed him to get the material and adjourned the hearing to March 8 (today).

On being summoned to SC over his anti judiciary speech, Chaudhry had denied and said, “I neither made person specific discussion nor criticized judges during public meeting or media talks.''

Currently, several Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are facing contempt of court notices including the deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. On SC's verdict, PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi has already spent one month in jail due to his contemptuous speech.
