BAHAWALPUR: China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a game changer for progress and prosperity of the region.
CPEC is flagship venture of the greater One Belt One Road Project of the People’s Republic of China having 2238 sub-projects costing 1485 billion US dollars. This was stated by Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gillani, Chairman Gallup Pakistan in special lecture on “CPEC Opportunities and Challenges” held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
This lecture was part of university lecture series regularly organized on direction of Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor to bring high profile distinguished personalities to the university to share their insights in the respective areas of expertise and provide significant educational enrichment which is a natural complement to academic activities at campus.
Dr. Gillani said that CPEC will connect China with Europe, Africa and Middle East through Pakistan.
This project includes 60 sub-projects worth 50 billion US dollars. The CPEC has three components, road network costing 11 billion US dollar, energy projects of 30 billion dollars and Railway project worth 12 billion US dollars. In fact CPEC will be a millstone bringing social and economic harmony among developed and under developed world.
Being a nation we all should be united to materialize this dream project into reality shedding off all doubts to strengthen our position at global level. He also briefed about 9 special economic zones, 4 mass transit projects and 6 provincial projects being completed under CPEC.
