QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo Thursday said Balochistan is a province with inimitable geographical location, long coastal strip and valuable natural resources, if these resources are used decorously, poverty can be eliminated from Balochistan.

He expressed these views while talking to the Australian High Commissioner, Ms. Margaret Adamson, who called on him at CM Secretariat.

In the meeting, various matters were discussed including Pakistan-Australia bilateral cooperation, support in agriculture, education and health sectors.

Talking to the Australian High Commissioner, the Chief Minister said the province has vast opportunities for profitable investment in various sectors including agriculture, fishing, mines and minerals.

Bizenjo said despite limited resources, the government is taking concrete steps for advancement of education and provision of basic health facilities in the province.

The CM said agriculture in Balochistan has always been important, but due to lack of rain and drought for many years, this sector faced difficulty.

Besides, providing basic health facilities to the public, the government has given special attention to the establishment of technical and vocational centers in the province, so that more people can get employment opportunities in the projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he added.

The Chief Minister said that restoration of peace and security in the province will engross more investors in the province.

Bizenjo said that due to the long border with Afghanistan, terrorists easily escape after the terrorist attacks, but government is taking potential steps to prevent illegal movement across PAK-Afghan border, improving law and order situation in the country.

The Chief Minister said to overcome water shortage and development of agriculture sector, government is constructing dams in different areas of the province.

He said successful completion of CPEC in the coming few years, will transform Balochistan into an industrialized province of Pakistan, eradicating poverty from this region.

Our effort is to complete the development schemes on time instead of starting new projects so that the people can benefit from them, effective measures are being taken for eradication of corruption from the province, Bizenjo said.

The Australian High Commissioner appreciated the steps taken by the government for the development of the province, and assured cooperation in different fields including health and agriculture in the province.
