NA Committee approves Rs20286mn PSDP allocations for Interior Division

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly's Standing Committee on Interior Monday approved budgetary proposals of Rs20286.411million for the Interior Division Monday under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2018-19.

The Interior Division had demanded Rs 13123.482 million for ongoing projects where as proposed Rs7162.929 million have been demanded for new projects of the Division.

The meeting of the Standing Committee on Interior was held on Monday under the Chairmanship of Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan, MNA.

The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 14-02-2018. The concerned department informed the Committee that the recommendations made in its previous meetings were implemented.

The Committee examined “The Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2017” (Insertion of new sections 167-A & 344-A, Act XLV of 1860) (moved by Mr. Sajid Ahmed, MNA); and decided that the Bill may not be recommended.

The Committee examined “Islamabad Birthing Center and Hospital Maternity Services Bill, 2017”,(moved by Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, MNA); and “The West Pakistan Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2017”, (moved by Ms. Aisha Syed, MNA);and deferred it till the next meeting.

The Committee examined “The Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (sections 2 and 3)”,(moved by Ms. Nafeesa Inyatullah Khan Khattak, MNA) and “The Trafficking in Persons Bill, 2017” (moved by Mr. Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA); and decided constitute a Sub-Committee under the Convener-ship of Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur.

Members, MNAs, Mover Syed Iftikhar-ul-Hassan, Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Shaikh Salahuddin, Sher Akbar Khan, Dr. Arif Alvi, Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, Babar Nawaz Khan, Ms. Aisha Syed, Ms. Nafeesa Inyatullah Khan Khattak attended the meeting besides the senior officers from the Ministry of Interior and its departments, Ministry of Law and Justice, Passport Office with their staff.
