KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 105,296 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,735 tonnes of import cargo and 31,561 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Monday.
The total import cargo of 73,735 comprised of 33,737 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 8,707, 5,430 tonnes of Wheat and 25,861 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,561 tonnes comprised of 15,361 tonnes of containerized cargo, 300 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 10,900 tonnes of Mill Scale and 5,000 tonnes of Talc Powder.
Approximately, 4108 containers comprising of 2889 containers import and 1219 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 483 of 20’s and 1003 of 40’s loaded while 126 of 20’s and 137 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 397 of 20’s and 264 of 40’s loaded containers while 76 of 20’s and 109 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
As many as 09 ships namely, Captain Haddock, Global Glory, Chemocean Leo, Brooklands, Emirates Zanzibar, Ital Unica, Diyala, Dalian Express, Singapore Bridge have berth at Karachi Port.
Nearly 10 ships namely, Msc Erminia, Songa Breeze, Summer Ploeg, Adventure, OOCL Charleston, Da Cui Yun, M.T Karachi, Global Glory, Brooklands and Han Ren have sailed out from Karachi Port.
Some 10 cargoes namely SSL Brahmputra, MOL Genesis, Hilda, SSI Glorious, Liberty Passion, Kota Megah, Huundai Colombo, Tarlan, HC Jana Rosa and SG Pegasus were expected to arrive at the port on the same day.
