The Supreme Court (SC) adjourned on Monday Minister of State for Interior Affairs Talal Chaudhry's contempt of court hearing till March 6.

Chaudhry replied in affirmative to Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan inquiry whether he had submitted a reply to the notice, which had been issued by the SC, local media reported.

The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader appeared before the court this morning and informed the court that his lawyer Kamran Murtaza was on official leave. To this the court then adjourned the court proceedings.

SC issues show cause notice to Talal Chaudhry in contempt case

Earlier, Chaudhry had requested the apex court to withdraw the contempt notice stating in the application that 'hatred, ridicule or contempt’ is ‘not even the last thing on the respondent’s mind.’

On February 2, the SC had issued Chaudhry a notice for delivering disrespectful remarks against the judiciary and had summoned him to appear on February 6 (today). While talking to a private news channel, Chaudhry, however, denied speaking against the judiciary and said, “I neither made person specific discussion nor criticized judges during public meeting or media talks.’’
