SIALKOT: Federal Tax Ombudsman Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, along with FTO senior advisors, visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday to discuss various issues pertaining to taxes.
He stressed the need for improving tax collection system and providing maximum relief to the taxpayers and the exporters.
He said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should remove hurdles in the way of promotion of exports by reducing the prolonged pendency of the Customs, Income Tax and Sales Tax refund claims.
He said that the FBR should ensure early payment of duty drawback, Income Tax and Sales Tax refund claims for ensuring smooth flow of cash in the Sialkot industry.
Acting SCCI President Abul Waheed informed the Ombudsman that Sialkot exporters were really worried as their refund claims worth Rs6.5 billion had been pending for the last several years.
The acting SCCI president stated that tax related issues of exporters should be solved on priority basis.
The meeting was attended by officials of Sialkot Tax Bar Association (TBA) and business community also.
