PTI announces public gathering in Rawalpindi amid PDM protest

The preparation for the gathering have already begun at the venue as party is looking form a strategy to deal with the opposition’s anti-government campaign.

Following the announcement of protests by opposition-led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to show its political power with a public gathering at historic Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

As per details, the preparation for the gathering have already begun at the venue as party is looking form a strategy to deal with the opposition’s anti-government campaign.

The newly-elected members of the South Punjab region will take oath. PTI Chief Organiser Saifullah Niazi will administer oath to the new office-bearers of the party.

On Wednesday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz had announced that the PDM – a multiparty alliance of the opposition – will hold its first rally in Gujranwala on October 16.

Talking to media alongside the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) at Jati Umra, Maryam Nawaz said that the opposition parties first rally would be held in Gujranwala and she would also extend an invitation to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to attend the rally.

Initially five rallies were announced by the PDM with first on October 16 in Gujranwala, second in Karachi on 18th of the month. Two rallies on November 22 and 30 in Peshawar and Multan respectively, while last would be in Lahore in December 13.
