A big relief

LETTER: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) deserves commendation for allowing disbursement of salaries under the Rozgar Scheme before Eidul Azha, although the banks were required to disburse salaries, under the Rozgar Scheme, according to the cycle of salaries used by businesses, which is typically after the completion of the month.

There is no doubt about the fact that the country's central bank has played a key role in mitigating the plight of businesses on account of coronavirus-related economic slowdown. It is also a fact that the incumbent SBP governor's approach to the country's economic and financial challenges is vastly different from all of his predecessors.
