KARACHI: The Met Office has forecast some 20 percent more rains for Sindh and Kashmir, which are likely to be moderately above normal rainfall during August and September.

It said there was no significant change in the previously issued monsoon outlook. "El Nino Southern Oscillations (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) are likely to remain neutral during the coming monsoon season," it said.

Monsoon rainfall is expected to remain near normal by 10 percent higher during July to September 2020 in Pakistan. Sindh and Kashmir are likely to receive moderately above normal by 20 percent rainfall during August and September. Area weighted normal rainfall of Pakistan during July-Sep may remain 140.8 mm.

In the next 24 hours: Rain-thundershowers (with dust-storm/gusty winds and isolated heavy falls) are expected in upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eastern Balochistan, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
