SC adjourns hearing of case regarding illegal marriage halls till Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over report submitted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) regarding illegal construction of marriage halls in capital and adjourned hearing of the case till Tuesday.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case and directed the CDA to amend policy in light of court orders.
During the course of proceedings, Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar appeared before the bench and informed that the civic body has formulated a policy regarding marriage halls in capital. He said that marriage halls administration would be responsible for security and parking.
He said that the CDA would regulate all marriage halls after issuing of public notice in this regard.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the CDA report did not mention dumping of garbage. The chief justice remarked that underground dumping of garbage was polluting the underground water.
