The Senate on Monday passed "Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2012" to provide protection against domestic violence to women, disable persons and senior citizens. Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed also introduced "The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2012" to stop the role of State Agencies for taking any person in the custody without any opportunity of being heard at any judicial forum.
The House passed "Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2012" without referring it to concerned standing Committee of the House for further deliberation. All the members of the House were agreed for passing the Bill without referring it to concerned standing Committee of the Senate. Senator Nilofar Bakhtiar of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) moved the Bill for introduction in the House and urged the Deputy Chairman Senate to pass it without sending to the standing Committee.
When Deputy Chairman Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali took sense of the House, all the members supported to Nilofar's point of view. They said that the Bill should not be referred to the Committee and pass it unanimously. After it, the House passed ""Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2012" unanimously.
