Awami National Party's Amir Nawab has supported the resolution (tabled in Sindh Assembly against the amendment to Article 239(4) of the Constitution), during a meeting of assembly's special committee held at committee room of assembly building here on Saturday.
Amir Nawab is a mover of the said resolution and the member of the special committee as well; the committee had been made with the mandate to review the controversial resolution against the amendment to Article 239(4) of the Constitution. The fourth meeting of the committee was held in the chair of Chairman Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq which lasted for one and half an hours, more than twenty co-movers were also came to attend the meeting.
Sources present in the meeting told that PPP's legislator Imdad Pitafi, Humaira Alwani, Temoor Talpur, Aisha Khoso, Rashida Panhwer and others including PML-F's Nusrat Sehar Abbasi attended the meeting. All co-movers were came to register their statements regarding the resolution but Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has not given time to them in this regard and he allowed only ANP's Amir Nawab to record his statement, sources said.
While registering statement, Amir Nawab said that he is the co-mover of resolution and totally supporting on behalf of his party as well, sources added. Later, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq excused the participants that he has to attend the event of prime minister so that he can't continue the meeting more and the committee would sit again on February 20, 2012 (tomorrow), source further said.
It may be noted here that two members of committee Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Syed Sardar Ahmed and Faisal Sabzwari could not attend the meeting due to some busy schedule, sources informed. While, other members including PPP's Murad Ali Shah, Shazia Marri, Dr Sikandar Mendhro, Ayaz Soomro, NPP's Arif Mustafa Jatoi, PML-F's Jam Madad Ali, PML-L's Abdul Razaq Rahimoon, PML-Q's Shehryar Mehar and ANP's Amir Nawab were present during the meeting.
When contacted, Arif Mustafa Jatoi major over of resolution said that government is delaying the resolution deliberately and wasting the precious time of legislators. He said that committee had called co-movers to register their statements regarding the resolution but Pir Mazhar has not taken interest to do so and left the meeting hurriedly.
He said the committee would sit again on Monday (tomorrow) so let's see what will happen in this regard. It is pertinent to mention here that the major mover of resolution and NPP's legislator Masroor Jatoi had registered his statement regarding the resolution in last meeting of committee.
