Meeting held to discuss Pak-US relations, Balochistan issue

A meeting of intellectuals including renowned thinkers, defence analysts and journalists was held at Punjab University (PU) to discuss Pak-US relations and increasing foreign intervention in Balochistan.
Vice Chancellor PU, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairperson Political Science Department, Professor Dr Umbreen Javed, Mawaid Hussain Syed, Brigadier Syed Ghazanfar Ali (Retd), Brigadier Farooq Hameed (Retd), Brigadier Inam-ul-Haq (Retd), Professor Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori, Mian Saif-ur-Rehman, Salman Abid, Naeem-ul-Haq and Chaudhry Akram participated in the meeting.
Sharing his views, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran said that American people were not enemies but a cabal of families called "international bankers" was the enemy of mankind. He said the cabal wanted to establish One World Government and had achieved awesome power through a banking system based on usury and manipulating perpetual conflict among nations and bringing them under burden of debt.
He said now Americans had stood up against the imperialistic powers and had launched Occupy Wall Street Movement. He said, the protestors of Occupy Wall Street Movement were severely tortured but the US media was not giving fair coverage to the issue because 95 percent media was owned by these corporations. The VC said that the US had become a police state and US congress recently passed National Defence Authorisation Act which empowered US forces to capture any 'terror suspect' anywhere in the world for an indefinite period and no court could be reached in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, Brigadier Syed Ghazanfar Ali (Retd) said the policies of Pakistan and the United States were not made by civilians, which was the main reason behind lack of confidence between the two countries. He said that Pak-US relations could not be promoted unless we correct perception of war on terror. He said that there was a difference between what the US said and did. Pak-US relations would undergo more problems in the days to come, he added. He said that the US agencies had also benefited from our weak legislation like in Raymond Davis case. He showed his deep concern over vanishing of 14000 Nato containers loaded with latest arms and ammunitions.
He said that we would have to resolve Balochistan issue. Senior analyst Mawaid Hussain Syed said that the US was increasing relations with India while nuclear deal was sheer violation of NPT agreement. Brigadier Farooq Hameed (Retd) said that although the US had planned troops withdrawal before 2014 but wanted to retain the control of 5 bases. He said Hamid Karzai was willing to do so but the neighbouring countries including China, Russia, India and Iran had serious reservations and did not want it.
He said that situation in Balochistan could improve after US expulsion because Afghan land was being used against Pakistan. Renowned analyst and journalist Mian Saifur Rehman said that we would have to see things in true perspective. He said we could make strong decisions if we were socially empowered. He also stressed upon the need of self accountability.
Senior analyst Salman Abid said that there was misinterpretation of Balochistan affairs. He said that intellectuals would have to work on addressing real issues of Pakistan and we would have to focus on increasing relations with other countries and the countries of this region would have to enhance mutual co-operation. Chaudhry Akram said that we would have to do some practical as much time had already past and every passing day was moving us towards blind alley.
