The Capital Development Authority (CDA) with the assistance of local police sealed the premises of US warehouse in I-9/3 industrial area of Islamabad for violating CDA building bylaws. According to CDA officials, the premises of US warehouse was sealed because of gross violation of CDA bylaws. No permission had been sought by Americans from CDA for construction in the premises.
CDA officials said that two weeks back CDA building staff visited the premises and found illegal construction in and outside the premises. They demanded of the administration to produce the relevant documents with permission of construction. The administration promised to provide CDA with documents, but did not pay much attention to CDA demand.
On Friday night, CDA enforcement staff visited the premises again, and stopped the on-going illegal construction in the industrial plot. They stopped the workers from raising concrete security wall around the plot and all other construction activities. The Americans denied to cooperate with the enforcement staff and also refused to produce the CDA permission documents mandatory to start any construction work.
The Americans also failed to satisfy the staff about the purpose of the construction. Eventually, CDA sealed the premises of the warehouse. According to US Embassy, the matter would be resolved with the help of Foreign Office and CDA, and confirmed that the premises was meant for US warehouse. It is further learnt that the plot had been rented out to the Americans by Mahfooz Elahi.
