Police busts 12 gangs of dacoits

Islamabad Police have busted 12 gangs of dacoits, drug pushers and prostitutes during the week and arrested 105 persons for their alleged involvement in different crimes, but street crime still remains a challenge for capital police.
Over 129 incidents of street crimes including car-lifting, robbery, theft and purse snatching were reported during the week in capital, in which people were deprived of their vehicles, motorcycles, computers, mobile phones, gold ornaments, cash, watches and other valuables worth millions of rupees.
According to data obtained from all police circles of the federal capital, Islamabad Police nabbed 105 outlaws including fifteen women for their alleged involvement in drug pushing, bootlegging, prostitution, dacoities, car snatching, robberies and other crimes.
During the week, Islamabad Police recovered illicit arms including two kalashnikovs, one repeater gun, two 12-bore guns, one closet gun (30-bore) 25 pistols, three daggers and over 500 rounds of different caliber. Over eight kilogram heroin, 49 kilogram charas and 400 bottles of wine and 20 canes of beer during the week.
People were deprived of 13 vehicles during the week that include four Mehran cars, one Margalla, two Suzuki vans, two pick ups, two Toyota Corolla, one jeep and one charade. Besides, nine motorcycles were also stolen from different parts of the capital during the week.
The capital police have impounded ten vehicles, which were being used by smugglers in drug smuggling and bootlegging, while highest quantity of contraband recovered was 40 kilogram charas, which was recovered from the petrol tanks and rear seat of a Mehran car at Motorway Chowk in jurisdiction of Tarnol Police. The car was coming from Peshawar and was being smuggled to Punjab. About six kilogram heroin was impounded from an African citizen at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, who was carrying drugs to Africa in a Qatar Airlines plane bound for Nairobi.
