Police beefed up security on a tipoff from the secret agencies regarding entry of two explosive-laden white colour vehicles in the city. Sources said here Saturday that intelligence agencies have communicated to the authorities concerned about the expected terrorist attack in the city. Police are vigilant of all important locations and public places in the city.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir directed round-the-clock patrolling by the Elite Force in all sensitive areas. The CCPO told Business Recorder that police are fully alert with special instructions to all superintendents of police (SPs) for 24-hour patrolling in this regard. He further said that station house officers (SHOs) have been asked to patrol in their respective areas. They have also set up pickets at all important locations, which includes the residences of politicians, government offices and main entry points of the city.
According to him, the security arrangements are well in place to avoid any untoward incident. Walkthrough gates and metal detectors are being ensured at all major mosques, he said and added that large contingents of police is being deployed at major markets. One senior officer at the provincial home department pointed out that such tipoffs are a routine matter and directions are passed in line with the interior ministry circulars.
