SU, East West Life Assurance company sign MoU

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Sindh University (SU) and East West Life Assurance Company to provide health insurance to the faculty members and employees of the University. The MoU signing ceremony was arranged at the Sindh University Senate Hall on Monday, which was attended by Vice-Chancellor Dr Nazir A Mughal, Pro Vice-Chancellors, Deans of the Faculties, Members of Syndicate and officers.
Speaking on this occasion the Vice-Chancellor said that in advanced countries the institutes and organisations rely on the health insurance and added that group health insurance is a part of reforms introduced by him. He said that in convincing to the employees and faculty members almost two years have passed in implementation of the scheme and added that now the scheme would be fully implemented from October 1.
He said that due to sudden death of his relative and young employee of the University late Muhammad Saleh Mirza who died in 45 age who suffered HIV, he realised that due to diagnosis at later stage is also danger for the human life. He said that group health assurance was his top priority apart from the academic reforms after resuming as Vice-Chancellor since January 2010.
He said that the University is providing huge amount on account of medical allowance, medical loan as well as medical reimbursement but all facilities are not sufficient to provide health care to the all employees. He further said that service towards heath insurance to the employees of the University provided by the company will be a service to the mankind and added that the company should consider the employees not only partner but as community and as family.
Chief Executive Officer of East West Life Assurance Company Maheen Younis speaking on this occasion said that their organisation is offering health insurance since long time and they are service provider to many top organisations. He said that they will also organise free medical campus to facilitate the University employees and would also provide all required facilities without delay. He said that a permanent counter has been set-up at the administration building that required information and assistance could be made available easily.
