Shaukat Khanum Hospital: PTI condemns Punjab govt for sealing medical lab

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday strongly condemned the Punjab government for sealing the medical laboratory of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, terming it a bid by Sharif brothers to malign PTI Chief Imran Khan.
"Sharif brothers should be sent behind the bars for their miserable failure in handling the dengue virus epidemic in Punjab that claimed many lives," said PIT chief at a telephonic press conference from London. PTI's vice-president and advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Dr Shireen Mazari and central leader Rauf Hassan were also present on the occasion.
Imran said that the Chief Minister Punjab instead of issuing instructions for medical labs to fix Rs 90 as fee for the dengue test, should bring back its wealth to the country and spend it on the welfare of the masses. He regretted the Punjab government action for sealing medical lab of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, which according to him was already offering the tests for dengue at Rs 80. He, however, said that they have already brought the case in the court of law.
Speaking on the occasion, Shireen Mazari strongly condemned Punjab government for allegedly targeting the social and philanthropic entity on political grounds. A document distributed among the media persons revealed that Ittefaq Hospital (Trust) owned by Sharif brothers was charging Rs 360 as fee for dengue tests. "It is clear contradiction to the instruction by the Chief Minister as the hospital, which in real term becomes "Sharifs Medical Enterprises" was charging higher fees from the masses," Mazari said.
She was of the view that all the politicians in power including President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and the Sharif brothers had lost confidence of the international community and philanthropists, adding the rulers should seek help of the sincere politicians like Imran Khan to help raise funds for flood-affected people as well as to overcome the situation caused by dengue virus.
Mazari also challenged PML-N's chief Nawaz Sharif and his party to compete Imran Khan in the field of politics and refrain from mala fide campaign against the PTI Chief. Referring to the relief activities in flood-hit areas of Sindh, Rauf Hassan said that Imran Khan Foundation had sanctioned Rs 2 million for the food-affected people of nine districts.
