Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani has said action will be taken against officers of the city government and town administration who showed carelessness in dealing with the situation after heavy rains in the city. The minister was talking to the media after a joint meeting of the city government and water board officers at DCO Camp Office on Saturday.
He said that complaints of accumulation of water in some areas were received during recent rains in Karachi. Secretary Local Government Ali Ahmed, Administrator/DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed, M.D KWSB Misbahuddin Farid and other officers were also present.
Durrani said the city had emergency condition during rains and KESC did not cooperate. He said that he was informed about the 12 hours long power failure at the sewerage pumping station which had resulted in overflow of sewerage water on roads. Addressing the meeting, the minister directed officers to improve their performance in controlling the situation after heavy rains. He urged them to take measures for improving the sewerage system.
