Up till now, 4K and HDR displays were the most trending displays. Looks like LG is just about change the course by launching the world’s first 88-inch 8K OLED display.

In the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 next week, LG Display will exhibit its new 88-inch 8K OLED display, which the company remarks as the future of ‘high-end premium TV market’. It is the largest and the highest-resolution OLED panel till now beating its own previous record of 77-inches that came in 4K resolution.

The display contains 33 million pixels, which is four times that of ultra-HD and 16 times that of full HD and with no compromise in the brightness. As per LG, it has been able to reach the 8K resolution by decreasing the size of each pixel and the aperture ratio, reported Trusted Reviews.

Apple to announce 4K TV box along with iPhone

In-Byung Kang, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at LG Display stated, “The successful development of the world’s first 8K OLED display is a milestone for the 8K era and underscores the exciting potential of OLED.”

The Korean manufacturer claims that the 8K OLED display creates ‘more delicate images and unmatched picture quality’. “OLED is clearly a next-generation technology leader and for this reason, LG Display is accelerating its research and development into OLED so that we can provide differentiated products to customers and markets,” expressed Kang.

However, the issue of this TV could be its price. LG’s previous 77-inch 4K OLED display costs around $20,000, which means the extra nine inches and the double resolution display will come with a hefty amount. Also, 4K content is still being created and currently, there is no 8K content produced yet. Till yet, LG has not revealed the price or details about when the TV would be available, reported Daily Mail.
