WAPDA / electricity workers staged a big demonstration here on Monday to protest against target killing of WAPDA workers and kidnapping of Chief Engineer Quetta Electricity Supply Co and condemned dismissal of office bearers and workers of Karachi Electric Supply Company.
The procession took out from Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Nisbat road and marched up to Lachshmi Chowk under the aegis of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union. It was led by veteran labour leader Khurshid Ahmad and union leaders Abdul Latif Nizamni, Iqbal Khan, Mustajaab Khan, Malik Fateh Khan, Mir Khan Baloch, Malik Noor Muhammad, Osama Tariq and others.
The rally urged the government not to break up the existing unified transmission and distribution system in the wider national interest. They also called upon PEPCO to complete the stalled electricity producing projects including the Nandi Pur and Chicho Kee Malian projects.
