National Highway Authority (NHA) has collected Rs 29,474 million as toll revenue during past five years from 97 toll plazas presently operational on its road network, a source in NHA said. He while talking to APP here on Monday said that NHA toll plazas on National Highways collected Rs 22,413 million toll revenue from 2006 to 2010.
From Punjab Rs 14,535 million were collected, Sindh Rs 6142 million, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs 1360 million and from Balochistan Rs 376 million were collected as toll revenue in five-year. The source further said that from Motorways Rs 7,061 million were collected as toll revenue from 2006 to 2010. From Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) Rs 1,506 million were collected as toll revenue, Rs 4,800 million from Islamabad-Lahore Motorway, and Rs 665 million from Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad Motorway from 2006 to 2010 during past five years, he added.
Out of 97 NHA toll plazas, 69 plazas are located on National Highways while 28 are situated on Motorways. Giving province-wise details, he said that in the Punjab province there are 53 toll plazas operational out of which 32 are on national highways while 21 are on Motorways.
In Sindh province 18 toll plazas are operational on the highways. He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there are 14 toll plazas working seven each on highways and motorways, he added. The source said that on Balochistan highways 12 toll plazas are operational.
