Top PPP leader and former federal minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira has assured that the June 26, AJK Legislative Assembly elections will be held in a free and fair manner.
"The federal government has already declared categorically that all out efforts will be made to enable the masses of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to elect their representatives in absolutely free, fair and transparent manner," he said while addressing a mammoth public meeting held in Dadyal late Saturday in connection with the electioneering of PPP AJK candidate for LA-1 constituency, Afsar Shahid.
Kaira continued that by smelling their defeat in the elections at the hands of the PPP, our rivals have, by now, started hue and cry besides levelling baseless charges of rigging in the elections against the party. He said the opponents of PPP have again girded lions against their party and popularly elected PPP-led government by harping on the traditional old tunes, merely to save their skin from the forthcoming convincing defeat in the elections.
He said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Nawaz Sharif moved to AJK when he smelled an unequivocal defeat and consequently launched his party's branch in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, former federal minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said that on coming in power in AJK, PPP would safeguard rights of the masses. Former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, while lambasting Muslim Conference and PML-N for their alleged negative and bad deeds, observed that both the parties are the two sides of a same fake coin, who did nothing for the betterment of masses.
Sultan, also the in-charge of election campaign for PPP in AJK elections, asserted that PPP would emerge as the single largest party after attaining land slide victory in the elections and would form the next government in AJK.
Addressing the congregation, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, PPP AJK President and the party's candidate in LA-2 (Chakswari Mirpur) constituency, claimed that PPP is close to a land slide victory in the scheduled AJK assembly elections with over two/third majority. He said after coming into power, PPP would 'strictly act according to the ideologies of martyred leadership of the party including shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto' to make the Kashmir freedom movement a complete success besides turning the AJK into a true welfare state.
"Bhuttoism is infused in each Kashmiri and the masses of Azad Jammu Kashmir will leave no stone unturned to continue preaching and acting upon Bhuttoism," he vowed, adding the coming victory of the party in the elections would be an ample proof of this reality.
Former federal minister for power Raja Pervez Ashraf, PPP AJK Chief Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood, PPP candidate Afsar Shahid Advocate, Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan Mrs. Shazia Akber, Khawaja Nazir, Imtiaz Raja and other party leaders also spoke on the occasion and reiterated the party's resolve, after coming into power, to utilise all energies to ensure early success of the Kashmir freedom struggle besides turning AJK into a true model welfare state.
