Moroccan king's backers attack democracy activists

Pro-government demonstrators in Morocco have attacked democracy activists protesting constitutional reforms recently unveiled by Morocco's king. Hundreds of young men paraded through a lower income neighborhood of the capital Rabat on Sunday waving Moroccan flags and pictures of the king.
When they encountered a scheduled march by activists from the February 20 pro-democracy movement opposing the king's constitutional reforms as insufficient, they beat some of them and hurled eggs.
The small numbers of police present attempted to shield the activists and eventually a police van arrived to evacuate them. King Mohammed VI announced Friday a series of constitutional reforms he said increase democracy and diminish some of his powers.
