Government plans reforms in education sector, says Pir Mazhar

Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haque has said that the government has planned reforms in education sector and allocated Rs 7 billion in budget for the sector. Speaking at a dinner hosted by Hanif Gohar at a local hotel here on Friday, he said that the government was making efforts to improve education standard of government schools.
He said the government had unearthed 1100 ghost schools in the province, which were occupied by landlords and were being used as Auta'aq. "These schools have been vacated now and teaching activities in these schools will start soon," he added. The minister lashed out at army generals for abrogating constitution and emphasised that these generals should be taken to the task. "No body including politicians and generals are above the law. Those, who violated constitution, should be hanged," he demanded.
President Indo-Pak Chamber of Commerce and Industry S. M. Muneer demanded of the government to withdraw sales tax imposed on import of plant and machinery in federal budget. He said business community has rejected this tax and it will continue to pressure the government until and unless it decided to withdraw it.
Muneer expressed his concern over deteriorating law and order situation and prolonged load shedding due to the ongoing tussle between KESC management and labour union. He urged the government to take bold steps to restore power supply and maintain law and order and provide relief to general public, trade and industry. President FPCCI Senator Haji Ghulam Ali said that the business community had saved Pakistan from default by continuing industrial activities and generating huge revenue.
He accused the incumbent government of strangulating business community in order to destroy the local industry and creating more unemployment. He lashed out at the government for fighting US's so-called war on terror, saying that they are still looking towards US without realising the fact that US is the biggest enemy of Pakistan.
President, Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), Mian Zahid Husain expressed dismay over curtailing allocation for Public Sector Development Programme in the budget. Chairman KATI, Johar Ali Qandhari emphasised that education sector should have been given priority in the budget. He showed dismay over government's decision not to bring agriculture sector into tax net.
