The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Wednesday allowed Dalbir Kur, to meet her brother, an Indian Spy Sarbajeet Singh on death row, at Kot Lakhpat jail. Chief Justice directed additional advocate general Muhammad Hanif Khatana to co-ordinate with home secretary and superintendent jail to make arrangement for meeting between brother and sister on June 16.
The court also accepted the plea of petitioner-lady ruled to meet her brother again before leaving to India. Dalbir pleaded that she and his brother's lawyer tried several times to meet Sarbajeet but the jail authorities did not permit them.
Sarbajeet was arrested in 1990 on charges of terrorism and was accused of carrying out bomb blasts in Lahore, Kasur and Faisalabad, killing dozens of innocent people.
The LHC had awarded him a death sentence in January 2003 in four different cases and the Supreme Court had upheld the death sentence in its judgement on August 18, 2010.
Sarbajeet's family in India has made several appeals to the government of Pakistan for his release. His sister, who is on visit to Pakistan, has also appealed to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari to commute his deaths sentence into life imprisonment and release him.
