Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Monday took oath as the judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath in a ceremony held in the premises of Supreme Court which was attended by the judges of apex court, judicial staff and other dignitaries.
Justice Jamali was elevated as judge Supreme Court of Pakistan by a presidential order issued late Saturday night on the advice of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and on the recommendation of CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He was serving as Chief Justice Sindh High Court and was affected by the recent verdict of Supreme Court's full bench in which it declared all the appointments made in apex courts on the recommendation of Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar null and void.
