The fourth death anniversary of Mian Mohammad Sharif, father of Pakistan's ex-Prime Minister and PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, was observed here on Friday. Mian Mohammad Sharif, a highly respected personality and noted industrialist of Pakistan, was in exile in Saudi Arabia along with his family, when he died in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2004.
Former Prime Minister and PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif along with Chief Minister Punjab and President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz MNA and others offered 'fateha' over the grave of Mian Mohammad Sharif at Jati Umrah on Friday. They remained there for quite some time. The participants paid glowing tributes to late for his services for the country.
Late Mian Mohammad Sharif was the founder of the Ittefaq Group of Industries. He opted for the vocation of an industrialist in 1940. On migration from Amritsar at the time of partition, late Mian Sharif settled in Lahore where he started the iron business, initially on limited scale yet took it to the zeniths of great success in short span of time through his typical style of devotion and hard work. In 1974, the Ittefaq Foundry was nationalised.
