In a major reshuffle, the federal government on Wednesday transferred and promoted at least 10 senior bureaucrats of various departments. The decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, where he also accepted resignation of Wapda Chairman Tariq Hamid.
According to reports, Hafiz-ur-Rehman was appointed Information Technology secretary after being promoted to BPS-22, while Dr Shahzad Qaiser was promoted to BPS-22 and appointed as Tourism additional secretary. FBR Member Salman Nabi was promoted to BPS-22 and appointed as Federal Tariff Commission chairman. Sahibzada Riaz Noor was posted as NWFP chief secretary. Mohammad Sharif was appointed as Federal Population Welfare secretary.
Finance Division Additional Secretary Ahmed Jawad was appointed as Privatisation Commission secretary after being promoted to BPS-22. Zafar Mehmood was appointed as Textile secretary after promotion to the next grade. Naheed Akhtar was appointed Secretary Overseas Pakistanis Division as Fazal-ur-Rehman was transferred from Overseas Pakistani Division and appointed Secretary Ports and Shipping whereas Shahid Rafi was appointed Secretary Culture.
