Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has been asked to complete all necessary works on storm water drains by June 30, well before the onset of monsoon, in collaboration with the Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC) and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
The Commander, 5 Corps and DHA Executive Board President, Lieutenant General Ahsan Azhar Hayat, has given the direction while chairing the Executive Board meeting, held at DHA main office here on Thursday.
The Director, Special Projects, informed the meeting that work on Co-generation Power and Desalination Plant was progressing satisfactorily and its trial operations were expected to commence in eight to 10 weeks. Work on laying of water pipelines in the area was also expected to be completed by mid-August, he added.
The meeting reviewed the revised byelaws and asked the DHA to make them more user-friendly and to bring them in conformity with the present day environment and requirements.
The Executive Board President also directed the DHA/CBC to frame stringent sanitation byelaws. He also asked the DHA administration to consider the possibility of opening a few utility stores in Defence area where residents could get quality stuff at affordable prices. Earlier on arrival at DHA main office, the Corps Commander was received by DHA Administrator Brigadier Kamran Aziz Qazi.
